The Equestrian Centre, opened March 2016, is part of a family run wine estate. In everything they do they go for quality and enjoying life.
They have pure Lusitanos, a breed with an honest character and nice sit. There are horses for both beginners as well as experienced riders. They have excellent instructors: António Maria Brito Paes and Pedro Teixeira Farto. Pedro has a whole fan club in the Netherlands and visits frequently to do clinics in NL. Quinta do Rol also has guest instructors e.g. Nuno Cavaco and Jeannette Jenny and Jorge Sousa. In February 2016 Daniel Pinto, Olympic dressage rider held a clinic and shows have been given with Capriola by Luis Valença, a clinic with the Spanish Olympic rider Juean Manuel Munoz Diaz. Via my company Paardenpas a dressage week was organised together with trainer and international O-status 5* judge Eddy de Wolff van Westerrode. Next to dressage lessons one can do great beach riding. Lessons are given in English. Dressuurclinicweek met Pedro en Eddy de Wolff van Westerrode 10-17 september 2016
Pedro Teixeira Farto is a very passionate horseman, he “breathes horse”. Some guests are so pleased with his lessons they have organised him to come over to the Netherlands several times a year so they can improve with their own horses. It is Jessica de Klerk-Terlingen, who organises the clinics: More info at Clinic-Page. Pedro is also a true matador and Working Equitation instructor. So you can be taught this too and it is fun for both horse and rider.

Weather and climate
It can be hot and dry in summer in Portugal (July/August. The swimming pool is a loved place. Winters are mild with some rain and temperatures of approx. 15˚C, delightful for riding. Spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) are lovely months to visit with temperatures of 23˚C.
Portuguese is the official language in Portugal. Your host and guide however speak English.

We can book that for you and can recommend Guerin, the Portuguese rental car company, first on the right upon arrival and no long queues like the others e.g. Avis or Budget. Plus service all over Portugal. And they are quick with getting your car and returning it.

Paardenpas always passes on your flight details to Quinta do Rol so they know at what time they can welcome you and/or pick you up and can take into account any possible delays.

Pedro Teixera Farto and Golegã Horse Fair in November
Every year in November there is the Golegã Horse Fair in the little town of Golega. A huge Lusitano-horse fair with people and horses coming in from all over Portugal and the world. An amazing event with shows, competitions, people parading their horses around the arena and through the streets, they even ride straight into the bars with the horses.
Pedro in his own free time takes guests of Quinta do Fol to the fair in the evenings. How better to enjoy this event than with a true Portuguese horseman. Ride daytime, go out at night.
Lisbon is a beautiful city located along the coast. Easy to fly into and worth a visit. There is an equestrian museum in Lisbon.
What to bring
Riding boots, jeans, (T-)shirts short and long sleeves (against the sun), hat, helmet (the Quinta also has helmets), gloves, casual for the evenings, watertight jacket in November or March, slippers, bathing suit, sunglasses, sun cream, belt, lip balm, camera, smartphone, charger, adaptor, medicine
We can request availability for you and ask for a provisional booking.
Upon reservation a deposit of 20% is required.
